Notes. As noted by Ross (1979: 85): "Although Chiovenda used the same epithet (benadirensis) as in his earlier variety of A. bussei [i.e. A. bussei var. benadirensis], there is no evidence that the later species was based on his earlier variety. Different and better distinguishing characters were given, and a new selection of syntypes cited, but without reference to the earlier ones cited for var. benadirensis.".
