Notes. Treated as a distinct species by Pedley (1975: 6) but considered conspecific with Acacia heterophylla by Du Puy & Villiers (2002: 231). According to Du Puy & Villiers, the entity that Pedley described from central Madagascar as A. xiphoclada does not appear to exist as a wild population.
