Acacia aprica Maslin & A.R.Chapm. Nuytsia 12: 471 (1999)
Diffuse, open shrub to 2 m high. Branchlets slightly flexuose, densely silvery-sericeous between the often resinous ribs. Phyllodes sessile, moderately to strongly incurved, terete to subquadrangular, 5- 11 cm long, 1- 1.5 mm wide, rather stout, dull, green to grey-green, silvery sericeous when young, commonly glabrous at maturity, 8-nerved, the nerves broad, flat-topped and each separated by a shallow, dark-coloured furrow. Inflorescences simple, 1 or 2 per axil; heads sessile to subsessile, subglobular to obloid, 40–55-flowered, 7- 10 mm long, 7- 8 mm diam., golden; peduncles to 2 mm long; bracteoles acute. Flowers 4-merous; sepals c. 1/2-united. Pods linear, to 6 cm long, c. 2 mm wide, thinly crustaceous, sericeous; margins broad and glabrous. Seeds longitudinal, oblong-elliptic, 2.5- 3 mm long, glossy, pale brown mottled yellow; aril small.
Restricted to a small area near Coorow, south-western W.A. Grows in gravelly brown sand or loam in heath.
Related to A. arcuatilis (which has generally shorter phyllodes and fewer-flowered heads) and A. lirellata subsp. lirellata (which has decurrent, deeply furrowed phyllodes). Also related to A. filifolia which is distinguished by its wispy, slightly taller stature and longer, generally thinner phyllodes.
