Bowyakka

Tree to c. 10 m high. Branchlets often scurfy, subglabrous to appressed-puberulous. Phyllodes linear, straight, mostly 7–14 cm long, 1.5–4 mm wide, acute, often slightly uncinate, green to grey-green, scurfy when young, sparsely and minutely appressed-puberulous, glabrescent, with numerous closely parallel, obscure nerves. Inflorescences 1–4-headed racemes, sometimes reduced to axillary clusters of heads; raceme axes 0.5–2 mm long; peduncles 3–10 mm long, appressed-puberulous; heads globular, 4.5–5 mm diam., 20–30 (– 40)-flowered, golden; bracteoles spathulate to subpeltate. Flowers 5-merous; sepals c. 3/4-united. Pods submoniliform, straight, to 6 cm long, 2–3 mm wide, firmly chartaceous, non-reticulate, sparsely appressed-puberulous. Seeds longitudinal, narrowly elliptic, 2.5–4 mm long, brown; funicle/aril fleshy, repeatedly folded.

Scattered in southern Qld from Adavale SE to Talwood (near N.S.W. border). Usually grows in shallow loam or clay over weathered rock, often forming dense stands alone or with A. cambagei or Eucalyptus thozetiana .

Seems very close to A. microcephala .

Synonymy

Racosperma microspermum (Pedley) Pedley, Austrobaileya 2: 352 (1987). Type: as for accepted name.
