Notes. This name appears in Rico Arce (2007: 189) without details except that it is considered synonymous with Piptadenia gonoacantha (Mart.) J.F.Macbr. Acacia pau-jacare is not on the International Plant Name Index (IPNI) or ILDIS (The Internationl Legume Database & Information Service, Roskov et al. 2005). It is in the Tropicos database, but without details, and also in the Plant List as an unresolved name (citing Tropicos). Burkart annotated a number of specimens of Piptadenia gonoacantha as Acacia pau-jacaré in several herbaria; apparently, he later found that this was a Piptadenia species and never published the name (D. Seigler, pers. comm.).
