Acacia resinicostata Pedley (as ‘resinocostata’), Contr. Queensland Herb. 15: 1 (1974)
Bushy, rounded, glabrous, somewhat resinous shrub 2–3 m high. Branchlet ribs somewhat tuberculate. Phyllodes scattered or irregularly verticillate, rather crowded, sessile, patent to inclined, linear to narrowly oblong, straight or incurved, flat, 5–10 (–20) mm long, 0.5–1 mm wide, abruptly constricted at base, obliquely and excentrically mucronulate to rostellate, sometimes uncinate, somewhat thick, longitudinally rugulose when dry, light green; midrib obscure; gland minute, basal, sometimes absent. Inflorescences simple, 1 per axil; peduncles 8–12 mm long, the base ebracteate; heads globular, 25–35-flowered, deep lemon yellow. Flowers 5-merous; sepals 2/3–3/4-united, with acute lobes. Pods narrowly oblong, to 8 cm long, 5–6 mm wide, firmly chartaceous, subvernicose; stipe 3–5 mm long. Seeds longitudinal, oblong-elliptic, 4–4.5 mm long; aril clavate, cream.
Disjunct, occurring in the Carnarvon Ra. and c. 300 km to the SE near Djuan and Karara, south-eastern Qld. Grows in shallow soil in dissected sandstone country in open woodland.
Specimens from Boolimba Bluff in the Carnarvon Ra. have longer phyllodes than elsewhere (i.e. to 20 mm long).
A member of the ‘ A. johnsonii group’ and distinguished by its truncate, sessile phyllode bases, i.e. pulvinus extremely reduced. Specimens from Blackdown Tableland and included by L.Pedley, Contr. Queensland Herb. 15: 2 (1974), under A. resinicostata have recently been published as A. hendersonii (L.Pedley, Austrobaileya 5: 309 (1999). A. hendersonii is included in WATTLE where it is keyed and described separately.
