Acacia pubicosta C.T.White, Proc. Roy. Soc. Queensland 50: 73 (1939)
Shrub or tree to 5 m high. Branchlets densely appressed-puberulous towards extremities, glabrescent, the hairs straight and silvery white. New shoots densely appressed-puberulous with cream-coloured hairs. Phyllodes linear, 5–8.5 cm long, 2–3 mm wide, acute, subuncinate, thin, glabrous or more commonly appressed-puberulous on midribs, a few hairs sometimes on rest of lamina; midrib not prominent; lateral nerves inconspicuous; gland not prominent, 5–10 mm above pulvinus. Inflorescences racemose; raceme axes c. 4 cm long, silvery white appressed-puberulous; heads globular, 15–20-flowered, white or cream; peduncles 4 mm long, silvery white appressed-puberulous. Flowers 5-merous; sepals united. Pods (immature) to 10 cm long, c. 1 cm wide, thinly coriaceous, blackish, glabrous. Seeds (immature) longitudinal; aril clavate.
Restricted to the Biggenden area, south-eastern Qld. Confined to rocky slopes.
The specimens from Blackland Tableland, Mt Morgan and Callide Valley included by L.Pedley, Austrobaileya 1:284 (1980), under A. pubicosta are now referred to A. polifolia .
