Small tree 5–15 m high, initially a bushy shrub from 3 m. Bark fissured on stem and branches, grey. Branchlets with pale longitudinal ridges, red-brown, shiny. Young shoots densely clothed with iridescent citron-green hairs. Phyllodes linear or narrowly elliptic, flat, falcate, 8–16 cm long, 4–13 mm wide, coriaceous, densely sericeous to glabrescent, with prominent midvein and sometimes 2 lateral subprominent veins, the minor veins 7–10 per mm; gland basal or rarely way, small. Spikes 0.8–3.2 cm long, dense, bright yellow. Flowers 5-merous; calyx c. 0.9 mm long, dissected to base, the sepals linear-spathulate, villous; corolla c. 1.2 mm long, dissected to c. 1/2, densely villous; ovary densely villous. Pods linear to cultrate, straight, 2.5–12 cm long, 7–15 mm wide, hard, brittle, rugose, velvety with citron-green hairs (especially when young). Seeds longitudinal, broadly elliptic to circular (almost globose), dorso-ventrally flattened, 5–6.5 mm diam., black or dark brown; pleurogram surrounded by pale halo; areole elliptic, closed, cream-coloured to dark green; funicle filiform, cream-coloured.

Occurs in north-western W.A., bounded by the latitudes 21S and 26S. A line between Marble Bar and Wiluna represents the approximate eastern limit of this species. Usually found along creeks and rivers in sandy rocky beds, also grows in stony soils in open forests away from watercourses. Flowers Apr.–June.; fruits Apr.–Oct.

Similar to A. hamersleyensis .
