Notes. (1) A detailed taxonomic treatment of this species is given in Seigler et al. (2023). (2) This species was originally considered to be of hybrid origin with Mariosousa heterophylla and M. russelliana the putative parents; although it is now tentatively regarded as a distinct species, further information from field studies and DNA analysis are needed to reassess its taxonomic status (fide Seigler et al. 2023: 37-38).
