Notes. Varieties are recognized for this species in ILDIS (The International Legume Database & Information Service, Roskov et al. 2005), based on Kumar & Sane (2003: 89), therefore, varietal combinations in Vachellia were provided by Maslin et al. (2013: 42). However, it is noted that in Kumar & Sane (2003: 89) it is noted that varieties are "not maintained in recent literature", citing Chakrabarty & Gangopadhyay (1996) as their validating reference. The status of var. microcephala therefore requires further investigation (Deshpande et al. 2019: 11).

Notes. The Wiersema et al. (1990) record of this species (as Acacia leucophloea) for Peninsular Malaysia needs verification because this species is not listed in any of Nielsen's publications for this region. The record of V. leucophloea for Peninsular Malaysia by Maslin (2015: 248) and Deshpande et al. (2019: 11) were based on the Wiersema et al. publication .
