Acacia pedleyi Tindale & Kodela, Austrobaileya 3: 745; 747, fig. 1 (1992)

Slender erect tree to 10 m high. Bark smooth, later rough near base, greenish above, grey below. Branchlets terete, apically angled, brown to greenish brown, puberulous; ridges to 0.3 mm high, minutely tuberculate. Young foliage-tips pale yellow to golden, silky. Leaves herbaceous, feathery, dark green; petiole 1–2 cm long, white- or pale yellow appressed-puberulous, with 1conspicuous gland near base of lowest pair of pinnae; rachis 3–5.8 cm long, with 1 gland at base of each pair of pinnae, 1–3 interjugary glands between each pair of pinnae; pinnae (3–) 5–8 pairs, 2.1–7 cm long; pinnules 20–104 pairs, mostly oblong to cultrate, 0.8–3.6 mm long, 0.3–0.7 mm wide, 1-veined, glabrous or ciliolate, apex obtuse. Inflorescences in axillary racemes, or terminal or axillary false-panicles. Heads 14–20-flowered, pale yellow. Pods straight-sided or constricted between seeds, straight or slightly curved, 4–13 cm long, 5–6.5 (–9) mm wide, thinly coriaceous, dull brownish black, sparsely puberulous.

Endemic to the Callide and Calliope Ranges, Port Curtis District, Qld. Grows in red loamy soil on slopes and ridge tops, in open eucalypt forest or woodland. Flowers May, Nov., Dec.; fruits May, Oct.

Acacia pedleyi , A. deanei subsp. deanei , A. glaucocarpa and A. storyi are the most northerly occurring species in sect. Botrycephalae .
