Acacia lauta Pedley, Austrobaileya 1: 257 (1980)
Sprawling shrubs to 2 m tall and very closely allied to A. johnsonii but differing principally in the following ways. Phyllodes 20–40 mm long, 1.5–2.5 mm wide, patent to reclined, midrib slightly raised and rather distinct (when dry), the eccentrically rostellate mucro at right angles to laminae. Peduncles sparsely puberulous.
Confined to a small region of the Darling Downs in south-east Qld, between Inglewood and Tara. Grows on sandy soils in low open woodland.
Acacia lauta is a member of the ‘ A. johnsonii group’ and its relationship to its very close relative, A. johnsonii , warrants further study.

In Fl. Australia A. lauta was treated as a synonym of A. johnsonii ; however, following advice from L.Pedley (BRI) it is treated as a distinct species in WATTLE.
