System Requirements
This Identification tool uses the Lucid v3.4 Player

Operating System: Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003, Mac OSX, Linux, Solaris.

Screen Resolution: Minimum of 1024 x 768 pixels.

System Memory: 64MB RAM (128MB or greater recommended).

Web browser: Java-enabled web browser such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Safari.

NOTE: web pages such as fact sheets attached to items in Lucid v 3.4 interactive key matrices may be considered pop-ups by certain browsers (such as Internet Explorer (IE) when clicked on by users. If your browser blocks these popups, in your browser's internet settings you should allow pop-ups for this Lucid tool. Additionally, Internet Explorer may block "active content" on web pages or interactive keys. To allow active content, in Internet Explorer, under Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab, Security category, the box next to the setting: "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer" should be checked.

The Lucid3 interactive key "Wattles of the Pilbara" will run embedded within a web browser as a Java applet. Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.4.2 or greater must be installed on your computer for the Lucid3 Applet Player to run successfully.

If in the box above this line you see text that says your Java status is version 1.4.2 (or greater) from Sun Microsystems Inc., and your computer meets the Lucid3 system requirements, you may open the key:

Start the "Identify a Pilbara Wattle" key

Java information

If you don't see the necessary text in the box above, if the version number displayed is less than 1.4.2, or you receive an error message stating "Java is an unknown command", you can install the Java Runtime Environment provided on the CD ROM.

Click here to access the Java Runtime Environment installer provided on this CD ROM.

Alternatively you can download and install the latest Java Runtime Environment version from the Java website at:

http://www.java.com (free download)

After installation of the Java Runtime Environment you can verify your Java installation status by revisiting this page or doing the following:

Windows
Type "java -version" at a Command Prompt window. You can get to the Command Prompt window by either going to Run from the Start button and typing "cmd" or by selecting the Command Prompt menu option from Accessories.

Mac OSX, Linux, Unix and other platforms
Type "java -version" at a terminal window.

Note to Macintosh users: OSX comes pre-installed with the JRE and is accessible using Safari. Ensure you have the latest version of JRE by running the software update utility. Internet Explorer version 5.2.3, which is currently the latest version of IE for the Mac, does not support JRE, nor does Opera. If you use Firefox, Mozilla, or Camino as your browser, there is a Java Embedding Plugin that will enable them to access JRE and run the key. See the links below for information regarding installation, compatibility and updates for the plugin. The Java Embedding Plugin does not work with Explorer or Opera.

Information and Installation instructions for the Java Embedding Plugin can be found at:

http://javaplugin.sourceforge.net/Readme.html

To download the plugin go to the Java Embedding Plugin Summary at:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/javaplugin/

If Java version 1.4.2 or greater is now installed on your computer, you may open the key:

Start the "Identify a Pilbara Wattle" key
