Acacia curvinervia Maiden, Proc. Roy. Soc. Queensland 30: 34, pl. 1, figs 5–8 (1918)
Spreading shrub to 6 m high. Bark longitudinally fissured, transversely cracked. Branchlets angular towards apices, red-brown or yellowish, pubescent or glabrous. Phyllodes oblique, broadly elliptic to narrowly elliptic, sometimes recurved, flat or margins undulate, 2.7–7.6 cm long, 7–23 mm wide, coriaceous, red-brown pubescent when young, later glabrous, with (1–) 3 longitudinal nerves and 2–4 parallel, subprominent, parallel nerves, those in upper half of phyllode often confluent with margin, the minor nerves 5 or 6 per mm, fine, rarely anastomosing; gland 1, basal, 1–2 mm above pulvinus. Spikes 1.5–3.6 cm long, golden. Flowers 5-merous; calyx 0.6–0.8 mm long, dissected to 1/3–1/2, villous; corolla 1–1.4 mm long, dissected to 1/2–2/3, glabrous; ovary densely villous. Pods linear, straight-sided to very slightly constricted between seeds, curved or straight, terete, 4.5–10.5 cm long, 2.5–3.5 mm wide, coriaceous to thinly crustaceous, resinous-scurfy, longitudinally ridged. Seeds longitudinal, oblong to oblong-elliptic, 3–5.5 mm long, dark brown with paler areole.
Occurs in Qld, between 25S and 2030’S, and between 14530’E and 14820’E. Grows in yellow earths or stony skeletal soils on laterite or trachyte, in dense thickets with other Acacia spp. or in low eucalypt woodland. Flowers May–July.
According to L.Pedley, Austrobaileya 1: 140 (1978), A. curvinervia intergrades with A. julifera on the eastern side of its range. Acacia curvinervia is sometimes recognised as a subspecies of A. julifera .
