Acacia aciphylla Benth., Linnaea 26: 627 (1855)

Dense shrub to 1.5 m high. Branchlets glabrous. Phyllodes sessile, decurrent on branchlets, erect, straight, terete to slightly rhombic in section, 6– 12 (– 17) cm long, 1– 1.5 mm diam., long-tapering pungent, rigid, glabrous except tomentulose adaxially at extreme base, closely striate-nerved with nerves at the 4 angles slightly broader than the rest. Inflorescences simple, commonly 2 per axil; peduncles 2– 3 mm long, glabrous or puberulous basally; heads obloid, 6– 9 mm long, 6 mm diam., densely flowered, golden. Flowers 5-merous; sepals 2/3– 3/4-united. Pods linear, slightly raised over and constricted between seeds, straight, to 9 cm long, 2– 2.5 mm wide, coriaceous to crustaceous, longitudinally nerved, glabrous. Seeds longitudinal, oblong to broadly elliptic, 2.5– 3 mm long, glossy, mottled brown; aril translucent yellow.

Discontinuous, occurring in Kalbarri Natl Park, between Mullewa and Morawa and near Bindi Bindi, south-western W.A. Usually grows in loam and laterite in mixed scrub.

Formerly confused with A. sibina which has pulvinate phyllodes, longer spikes and larger pods and seeds.
